Tour de France, 2008
From Saturday, July 5, to Sunday, July 27, 2008 will bring the 95° Tour de France 2008 made up of 21 Stages covering varying types of terrain from flat, to rolling hills, and high mountains to end with individual time-trials.
It will depart on Saturday, July 5 from Brest and ultimately arrive to the end of the Tour to Paris at the Champs-Élysées, as per tradition, after having covered a total of 3,500 kilometers. The long-established, world famous tournament, like the previous edition, covers an innovative course, capable of making this cycling event shine once again after the doping scandals of the 93° edition.
The Tour of France, which during its tour will pass through the most important French towns, will introduce a big novelty this year; no prologue. Departing from Brittany to arrive to the two individual time-trials in which the riders will have to battle the weather in the over eighty kilometer course. The riders will then tackle the Pyrénées before reaching the Alps, the only Italian phase which had been absent from the race since 1999.
July 27 in Paris will select the winner of this 95° edition. Meanwhile, the eyes are on the winner of the previous edition, Alberto Contador of the Spanish Astana team.
