Histoire de l'Atelier Brancusi
The Pompidou Center, in the heart of Paris, which has always been the nerve center of modern and contemporary art, for one year from October, 2007 to October 6, 2008 will present an exhibition on the « History of Atelier Brancusi » .
The Romanian artist Costantin Brancusi, Parisian by choice, lived in the French capital from 1904 until his death on 1957. Famous for his sculptures, the exhibition displays a vast collection of his works including 137 sculptures, 41 designs, paintings and more than 1,600 photographs. Little-known were Brancusi's photographic abilities; the artist personally developed the photographs in his studio. From these glimpses one can see innovative art through experimentation that does not represent reality, but his personal way of seeing things.
Like his sculptures and the rest of his work, Brancusi was well ahead of his time. Because of this, the Pompidou Center celebrates his talent by showcasing an year-long exhibition.
